3.2. Metamosphic rocks
Metamorphism is a slow process which occurs deep in the Earth.
Metamorphic rocks are formed deep within the Earth by the effects of intense heat
and pressure on sedimentary, igneous or other metamorphic rocks.
These rocks do not melt, but the minerals inside them are changed by heat
and pressure. The rocks become hard and compact.
Metamorphic rocks rarely have fossils.
